About Us
Our 30,000 square foot glass greenhouse provides valuable indoor growing space to help us produce food for our community year-round. The greenhouse was built in the mid-1980s to grow hydroponic tomatoes, and we continue to use about 40% of the space to grow hydroponically. Now we primarily grow lettuce and basil, producing tens of thousands of servings of greens for the island every year. Advantages of hydroponic systems over industrial agricultural production include up to 90% more efficient use of water and 3-10 times higher yields in the same amount of space.
